Suddenly there is no foreignness, no fear, no feelings of inadequacy. We can all make friends. It's a talent we've had since we were little children. Use it.

Great Book Covers
While reading the July/August issue of ForeWord magazine, I discovered an incredible number of great book covers. You can review these covers to help you design your own great covers.

I love the cover of this romantic thriller.

I also love the design of Mara Purl's Milford-Haven mysteries, like the one above.

Here are two poetry books with great covers.

Kunati does some great book covers that must really appeal to the people who like to read their sort of novels. I find these covers very attention getting.

John, you are so right about the eye-catching book covers Kam Wai Yu designs for Kunati--and his book trailers are just as compelling. The cover Kam created for my Southern gothic novel is more haunting than outrageous but still displays his talent and that distinctive touch of Kunati red.

Thank you for recognizing the amazing talent of Kam Wai Yu, Creative Director of Kunati. I am proud to be affiliated with such a ForeWord thinking publisher!

John,
Kam Wai Yu's talent is breathtaking for its ability to interpret and evoke a wide range of emotions. I knew that he understood the underlying aesthetics of my novel when I first saw the cover of my novel--I was overwhelmed by its beauty and suggestiveness.

Thank you for the mention of Kam's Kunati covers John! The beautiful thing about Kam Wai Yu's designs is that no one, from author, to publisher, can find any way to improve on his designs. He just sort of churns the creative juice, then says, "Here you go!" and they're always amazing, distinctive, and really stand out on the shelf when booksellers are kind enough to give us "face out." They also make a difference with our distributor, Independent Publishers Group, who have a vote on our covers. We're very lucky to have Kam! His spring 09 book designs, soon to appear on the Kunati site (coming soon page) are really amazing, even by his high standard. Derek Armstrong, Publisher Kunati Books.
