Author Showcase: John Graves, Author of Fracking

John Graves, author of Fracking: America’s Alternative Energy Revolution, writes for a website (http://www.frackusa.com) that features all the important news and developments happening in the new world of energy via fracking.

Fracking by John GravesFracking – the hydraulic fracturing of the deep earth – is the new buzzword in energy today. Why is fracking such a big deal in today's world? Four reasons:

Jobs – 3 million jobs will be created in the the oil and gas industry before the end of the decade. These are well paid, demanding, dangerous and important jobs, with skills learned only in the field.

Energy – This incredible increase in energy resources results in incrementally lower energy costs for each American. Lower gas, electricity, power, and heating costs are the direct result of the extraction of gas and oil from fracked wells.

Imports – Petroleum imports from outside North America have declined by 40% since 2007. They may disappear entirely by 2017. America can be free of hydrocarbon imports as a result of the fracking of natural gas and oil from within our own continent.

Environment – Because of fracking, the US has already reduced its carbon dioxide emissions in excess of the demands of the Kyoto Treaty of 1998.

The exploitation of hitherto unavailable hydrocarbon resources within the United States has resulted, and will continue to result, in more jobs, lower energy costs, reduced oil imports, and a safer and healthier environment.

About the Author

John Graves, author of FrackingJohn Graves has been the managing partner of a mid-sized independent financial advisory firm for 28 years. His interest in the world of shale gas and oil sprang up from a question a client asked, “Isn’t this fracking thing dangerous to the Earth?”

As a concerned citizen and as a financial analyst, he approached the industry from the bottom and worked his way to the top.

He has visited frack rigs in Texas, refineries on the Gulf, pipelines in the West, as well as environmental lawyers, roustabouts, toolpushers, engineers, geologists, and senior energy executives.

He hopes to bring the world of fracking to you so that you can make informed decisions on a subject that is increasingly important today.

For more about fracking, see John's website at  http://www.frackusa.com.

Author Showcase: Martha Carr, author of The List

Martha Carr, author of the new thriller The List, has received plenty of praise for her thriller. Check out the following reasons to read her new book:

"The List is one of the best thrillers I have read in years. A loving, funny family that will leave you rooting for their survival while quickly turning the page to see what happens next. A must-read for any fans of politics and Carr, a seasoned literary veteran of the game." — Lillian Vernon, founder of Lillian Vernon Corporation

"Every bit as good as Mary Higgins Clark's highly successful novels of psychological suspense. Suspenseful and entertaining." — The Chattanooga Free Press

"In The List, Martha Carr has crafted a slick political thriller that navigates a world laid bare with the quest for power and control. Once you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down." — James Eddy, producer

"From page one through the last chapter Carr takes the reader on a quick-paced and easy-flowing tour of murder, suspense and steamy romance. Be prepared to stay up past your bedtime with this one." — Library Journal

"The List is a rip-roaring read from start to finish, filled with unexpected twists and narrow escapes and a tremendously satisfying payoff that I never saw coming!" — Tom Purcell, syndicated columnist and author

Some Great Books That Hit the Theaters

Books can be a great way to stay entertained, but many people prefer to wait until the book becomes a movie to enjoy it. Some of the best books have found themselves transformed into movies. While some of these books-turned-movies remain true to the plot, others are changed drastically from the book people have grown to love.

If you haven’t caught any of the following movies yet, program your DVR to record these movies the next time they are on the TV. If you don’t have a DVR, check out SaveonTVDirect.com to get access to DirecTV and three months free of HBO. Meanwhile, discover these five popular book series that were made into hit movies on the big screen.

The Harry Potter Series

The Harry Potter series has been popular among tweens, teens and even adults. This fantasy story follows a young orphaned boy who is mistreated by his aunt, uncle and cousin. He finds himself at a school for wizards where he learns spells and makes new friends and enemies. The entire series follows his journey through the school and the adventures that go with it. Note: There are eight movies in this series.

The Hunger Games

Another popular book series that has been turned into a series of movies is the Hunger Games. This series follows the story of a civilization that hosts a battle to the death each year that is televised for the entertainment of society. Each year, one boy and one girl are sent off to fight to the death. Only one can survive. The second Hunger Games movie follows the repercussions of the outcome of the battle in the first movie. There are two movies to date, but there are more books in the series.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, as well as several other Chronicles of Narnia books, have been transformed into movies. These stories feature two sisters and two brothers who find a magical world inside the wardrobe in their guardian's home. These siblings become royalty in this world and experience many adventures, fighting the evil that exists in the world to keep themselves in their rightful positions.

The Twilight Saga

The Twilight Saga is another series of books that have become a popular series of movies. This fictional story deals with vampires and werewolves in modern times. The series follows a romance between a mortal girl and a vampire, along with the challenges that come with this unlikely relationship. There are five movies that make up this series, following the couple through all the stages of their relationship, from falling in love for the first time to married life and having children.

The Lord of the Rings

For those who enjoy fantasy, The Lord of the Rings saga is a popular option that can be found in both book and movie forms. These movies follow along with Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who takes a chance on an adventure and winds up enjoying it. The story begins with The Hobbit, though this is the most recent movie that was made. Its predecessors, the Lord of the Rings series, picked up the story when Bilbo is older and asks for the help of a younger Frodo to destroy the infamous ring. More movies are yet to be made in this series.

Sometimes settling down with a good book is all the entertainment you need. When these popular books are made into movies, though, the entertainment value increases and allows even more people to enjoy the story.

For many readers, the upcoming movie based on the 50 Shades of Gray series is something really to look forward to.
